June Dairy Month!

June is National Dairy Month! First, we would like to thank all of our hard-working dairy farmers!  Even though you might not hear it every day, we appreciate everything that you do! To celebrate June Dairy Month, here are some fun dairy facts that you may or may not already know.

  • About 300 varieties of cheese are sold in the United States
  • The United States produces the most Ice Cream in the world
  • 8 grams of protein can be found in one serving of milk
  • Nobody knows when yogurt was discovered
  • The amount of Calcium in one 8 ounce glass of milk is equivalent to: 12 servings of whole grains, 10 cups of raw Spinach, and six servings of Legumes
  • A red or yellow wax coating on Gouda Cheese means it's a younger cheese. An aged Gouda  willl have a black wax coating
  • It takes 12 gallons of milk to make one gallon of Ice Cream
  • More Ice Cream is sold on Sunday than any other day of the week
  • Yogurt is the official food of New York
  • The average person consumes 584 pounds of  dairy products every year
  • In 2020 there were 31,657 Dairy Farms in the United States
  • In 2020 the top milk producing states were: California, Wisconsin, Idaho, New York, and Texas
